500 leaves

The tree has reached its first major milestone with over 500 pledges! Help us get to the next milestone of 5000 by drawing your leaf and telling your friends to do one too!

Live Earth Tree Launch

The tree is finally ready! To get involved with the campaign visit www.liveearthtree.com, draw your leaf and make your pledge!

Each leaf on the tree represents individuals pledges to help save the planet, and you can be as creative as you like. As more leaves are added, the tree will grow from a sapling into a full tree, and when there are more leaves than can be shown on the tree, a representative snapshot of the database will be displayed.

So show the world you care and make your pledge now!

Don’t forget to tell your friends!

Live Development Trial

Good news, the test site is up for public viewing!

This is the first example of data modelling, allowing us to visualise the (dummy) pledge database graphically.

The leaves shown are an average of the overall database and the tree is proportionally accurate so we can represent millions of pledge leaves at once without displaying them all. This means denser areas of the tree symbolize more data in each category.

Older leaves will appear closer to the trunk whereas newer leaves will appear towards the edge of the tree signifying new growth.

You can click on a branch to zoom in and show more data on it and snapshots on the top left of the screen will show you where you are focused. Although it’s not working properly at the moment, you will be able to select a snapshot of that tree and return to it.

Green Pledges

Hi all,

We are compiling a list of green pledges for members of the public to choose from when the tree site goes live.

We would appreciate any suggestions you have and the best ones will make it onto the final list.

Please comment with any environment saving ideas you might have!

Thanks!

Latest Progress...

We've just got all the sort and filter options working correctly on the test site, meaning you can shape the tree by Name, Age, Location, Gender and Pledge!

There are still a few bugs though as you need to refresh the page to try a new sort.  Also you can't zoom into any branches yet or click on the leaves.

Tooltips are now working so when you rollover a leaf it shows the user, their age range and location.  The background colour of the tooltip corresponds to their gender (blue for boys and pink for girls).

It’s taking shape - literally!
